BCPA AGM Weekend report 2008
It was in glorious weather during the second weekend in May that members gathered at the Westminster Hotel in Nottingham for the Annual Association Weekend. A weekend in which friendships are renewed, or new ones made.
As always on Friday afternoon leaders of our area groups from around the country met to review the past year and to look forward in the life of the Association.
First class hotel hospitality on Friday evening saw everyone enjoying themselves in the informality of the hotel restaurant.
A regular Saturday morning feature of the weekend is a visit to a local attraction. This year members visited Laxton Village, a remaining example of mediaeval strip farming. Perhaps an unusual choice of visit but one which proved most informative and enjoyable to all those attending.
Prior to the formal AGM business of Saturday afternoon our speaker was Lynne Holt, Clinical Transplant Co-ordinator Freeman Hospital Newcastle. While telling us about developments in the service Lynne encouraged everyone to give serious consideration to the need for more donors.
Following a most informative presentation the formal business of the weekend took place in which members received the Annual Report and presentation of the financial statements.
We welcomed a new trustee to the Association, Mr Stan Madden from our East Suffolk Area Group.
During the open session following formal business members were introduced to the revamped BCPA website. While you are connected to the site please take the opportunity for a thorough look at what it contains.
Gala Dinner on Saturday evening was as ever enjoyed by all. This was contributed to by the excellent standards of the Westminster Hotel and the friendliness of the hotel staff.
A photographic representation of the weekend, put together by a number of contributors shows how enjoyable and successful the weekend in Nottingham was.
