News from the Area
It is with much sorrow and regret that I have to report the deaths of three of our members. A couple of months ago Marjorie Ankers died, followed a few weeks later by her sister Rita Morgan. Then on 8th February Pat Jakins died in Warrington Hospital. Pat was a founder member and the first Secretary of Halton Area Group, when it was formed in September 1994. She and her sister Betty were active members of the group until Pat’s illness took its toll and she could no longer attend the regular meetings. Even then she still supported the group and would come on some of our coach trips when she was able to. We send our good wishes and deepest sympathy to their families.
A group of members went to Forest Hills Hotel, Frodsham, for New Year. They had dinner, an evening’s entertainment, an overnight stay, and breakfast on New Year’s Day. Everyone had a good time and enjoyed their stay at the hotel.
On St Valentine’s Day the members enjoyed a coach trip to Bridgemere Garden Centre. We had a wander round the shops, then we were served afternoon tea in the restaurant. It was a nice afternoon out, and we thank Beryl McCann for arranging it.
Another activity we have at some of our meetings is Tai Chi. The members like this very much especially when we get to the end of the exercise and Bob Wheat, the instructor, teaches us to relax and let go of all our problems and worries.
The next thing we have to look forward to is our trip on the 18th June to the Imperial Hotel, Llandudno, for lunch and an afternoon at the seaside.
Stella Bate is back in America visiting her son and his family.
We meet every Thursday at Grangeway for Gentle Exercise, Line Dancing, Tai Chi, Yoga, and Games.
