News from the Area
So much has happened in the last couple of days, starting with our Annual General Meeting, but first I would like to reflect on the activities of the Group since my last report.
Just before Christmas we had a most enjoyable Christmas tea at the Meridian Golf Club, the staff making us very welcome and adding to the pleasure of the event with a quiz for all to take part in. We also recognised the real meaning of Christmas with readings and a prayer.
In the New Year we had lunch at the White Horse Inn at Barton, again we had a most enjoyable lunch, plenty of delicious food in a most pleasant atmosphere. We had over 30 people join us for each of these events.
Our Treasurer and his wife have just celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary, and as I write are off on a celebration cruise, for which we wish them well.
A few nights ago we held our Annual General Meeting. This was an important meeting for the Group, as it was a time for many changes, some of them far reaching.
The first was that Brenda and I gave up the National Help Line the day before, something we had been responsible for since 1996. The other change was to see us both retire from office after many years.
The good news is that we were able to elect a Committee of five people to continue the Group and the work involved. They have gone away to appoint officers, and look to the future for the Group. I am sure you join me in wishing them all well, and that they be blessed with good health to continue the Group. So there are no dates for your diaries here.
Finally may I say a special thank you to all the members of the Cambridge Group, for their hand of friendship which we have both enjoyed, feeling sure that we will have those friends forever, and also for their support at meetings, outings, lunches and teas.
